Digital Skills Teaching Assistant:

Wellesley College's Writing 135

The Age of the Antihero

"Living in the Age of the Antihero" is a Blended Learning Initiative (BLI) course hosted by the Writing and Computer Science departments at Wellesley. In addition to the usual components of a first year writing course, Writing 135 also includes a digital skills component that incorporates skills in Google Drive, HTML, CSS, online photo editing, color theory, typography, web design, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign. Using these skills, the students developed digital portfolios of their work from the course that contain blog posts, formal writing assignments, and their final Zines.

My Role in Writing 135

Over the summer of 2016, I created two websites, one sample portfolio of work completed in Fall 2014 and one class website containing reference information, examples, templates, and tutorials for web design and Adobe Creative Suite skills. During the fall semester, I attended classes and held evening office hours to answer questions and provide assistance to students working on the digital tasks.
